A luxuriously soft, authentic range of rugs, made by hand in Turkey, these were traditionally worn by shepherds in the mountainous areas of Eastern Turkey and used as blankets and as floor kilims in the tents of the nomadic people of this region. The rugs are hand loomed using traditional techniques and without using any dyes.

Our supplier has partnered with a University in the area to keep this traditional artisan skill alive. We love the history the rugs bring with them too, folklore has it that nomads used goat hair to keep scorpions and snakes at bay, and its rumoured that rug traders will sometimes use a scorpion to test the authenticity of a rug.
